Halloween Treats from the Big Easy

One of America’s most festive holidays is almost here and what better way to celebrate than with a sweet treat from the Big Easy’s own Marvin Allen, a 20 year mixology veteran, currently of Carousel Bar in the Hotel Monteleone.

Jack-O-Tini

1 part Jim Beam Bourbon
1 part DeKuyper Apple Pucker
1 part cranberry juice

Shake until well chilled. Strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with a spiced crab apple slice.

Bourbon Street Nightmare

3 parts Knob Creek Bourbon
3 parts orange juice
½ part blood orange syrup

Place all ingredients in a hurricane glass over ice and mix well. Drizzle blood orange syrup over top and garnish with a black licorice stick.

Skeletons in Your Closet

1½ parts Hornitos Plata Tequila
1 part DeKuyper Island Blue Tropical Schnapps
1 part pineapple juice
1 part mango juice

Shake over ice until well blended and strain over ice in a salted margarita glass

Crypt Keeper

1 part Canadian Club Whisky
2 parts Apple Cider
1 part Ginger Ale

Mix all ingredients and serve in a cocktail glass over ice.

The Voodoo Priestess

1 part Absolut New Orleans Vodka
1 part fresh mango puree
¼ part DeKuyper Anisette Liqueur
½ part simple syrup
6-8 fresh mint leaves

Muddle mango puree, mint and simple syrup in an old-fashioned glass. Fill glass with ice and add vodka and DeKuyper Anisette Liqueur. Stir gently to blend and garnish with fresh mint sprig.
