What could be more perfect for a summer evening with friends than a cool cocktail with everybody’s favorite summer refreshment, lemonade--and a touch of that thoroughly American spirit, Jim Beam Bourbon. This drink was created by Donald Link, Executive Chef and Owner, of Cochon in New Orleans.

Bourbon Lemonade

8 cups water
2 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
2 cups sugar
1 1/4 oz Jim Beam Bourbon

Combine sugar and one cup water in a sauce pan and boil until sugar is dissolved. Allow syrup to cool. Combine syrup with lemon juice and remaining seven cups of water.

Fill tall Collins glass with ice, pour one shot of bourbon into glass, fill with lemonade. Garnish with lemon slice.

Cochon, on Tchoupitoulas Street in the Warehouse District, is one of the first new restaurants to open in New Orleans since the hurricane. It features a Cajun and Southern-style menu. Chef Link, who founded Herbsaint Restaurant in 2000, was recently nominated as Best Chef, Southeast Region 2006 by the James Beard Foundation.
