The ABC’s of Barhopping in San Francisco Lead to XYZ

Although its name puts it at the bottom of the alphabetical list, XYZ is at the top of the local’s list in San Francisco. Maybe it’s the sleek setting. Maybe it’s the attentive service. Maybe it’s the convenient location South of Market and near the Modern Art Museum. Or maybe it’s just the general cachet that draws everyone to W hotels.

I tried a Rose Petal, the signature drink, on the recommendation of a friend. This cocktail is a refreshing blend of Finlandia Cranberry, Quantro, a splash of sweet and sour syrup, with champagne floating on top. It was the champagne that made me want to order it the first time. It was the blend of flavors that will make me order it again and again.

When is the best time to be at XYZ? I was there on a Tuesday night and it was comfortably crowded with a friendly ambiance.

Wednesday nights you can sip and splurge. The DJ will be spinning and the corks will be flying. Sip incredible high-end wines by the glass paired with complimentary indulgent canapes, such as hamachi carpaccio with yuzu caviar and spec prosciutto

Thursday and Friday happy hour goes from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Recently named a “Hot Nightspot” by 7x7 Magazine, XYZ bar offers complimentary rosemary seasoned nuts, olives and other tasty bites
