Batidas from Mixologist Tony Abou-Ganim


 

 
 


On a recent trip to Rio, mixologist, Tony Abou-Ganim, got behind the bar at Leblon Beach's Kiosque do Portugues. He mixed these frozen creations.

A batida is a cocktail made with the national spirit of Brazil, cachaca. In Portuguese, batida means shaken or blended. A batida is made with cachaca, fresh fruit (or coconut milk) and sweetener and is usually blended with ice.

Coconut Batida

2 oz. Leblon Cachaca
2 oz. creme of coconut
1 oz. whole milk
¼ oz. simple syrup

Combine all of the ingredients with crushed or cracked ice and blend until smooth. Garnish with roasted coconut.

 

 

 

 

Strawberry & Kiwi Batida

2 oz. Leblon Cachaca
½ fresh kiwi
6 fresh strawberries
2 oz. condensed milk
1 tsp. superfine sugar

Combine all of the ingredients with crushed or cracked ice and blend until smooth. Garnish with a kiwi slice.

 

 

 

Frozen Caipirinha

> 2 oz. Leblon Cachaca
4 oz. lime juice
1 oz. simple syrup

Combine all of the ingredients with crushed or cracked ice and blend until smooth. Garnish with lime wheels.
