“It has this heavy, oily aftertaste that

goes into the glass’ says W. L. Lyons Brown, a fifth generation

“Gin has been around since the 17th century, so something in it works. We embraced the challenge of defining and retaining these classic elements while giving the formula a modern twist. Our objective was to eliminate the heavy, oily aftertaste. We wanted a crisp, clean palate on the finish that delivers both a great martini in the nude and a lovely mixed cocktail." * To get the kind of gin he and partner Corry H. Isaacson wanted, "We had to find the finest ingredients in the world to fix our taste and nose issues," says Brown. "We source from six countries on three continents and three islands. It's an expensive exercise, but the result is a product that delivers a crisp, clean palate on the finish and is highly versatile when it comes to mixability.” Brown and Isaacson see gin as the forgotten spirit. "No one has done anything to bring today's consumer to gin," says Isaacson. “The goal is to make gin cool to drink again.” The Las Vegas launch this spring was packed with young, trend-setting celebrities. Right will appear in New York, Chicago and Boston later this fall and will debut in Florida and California early in the New Year. This is followed by a citrus 'experience' that comes up in the back of the mouth, delivering a clean, crisp finish to the palate through a combination of Sicilian lemon and bergamot and West Indian lime and bitter orange. At the very end, a pepper note comes up, leaving a pleasant, dry sensation. |
