The Josephine Cocktail Returns

El Gaucho Portland Serves $500 Signature Cocktail Again

Win the lottery? Inherit a bundle from your great aunt? Feel like making a big impression on a dinner companion or just treating yourself very well?  The Josephine’s the cocktail for you. A perfect pairing of rare L’Esprit de Courvoisier cognac and Grand Marnier 150 served in a snifter is back at El Gaucho Portland’s bar.

L’Esprit de Courvoisier is incredibly difficult to procure. After a period of absence due to supply, El Gaucho was able to track down the last bottle in the state of Oregon. Only six were received to begin with.

This drink costs $500, and ordering it provides the perfect way to indulge in high-class luxury.

The Josephine also presents an extraordinary opportunity to enjoy L’Esprit, which retails for over $6,000 a bottle. The liquor is a very rare, old cognac containing many of the finest vintages in history. It includes cognac from  historical period such as the Coronation of Napoleon I (1802) and the Civil War and French Industrial Revolution (1865). It is even rumored that Napoleon took a good supply of Courvoisier cognac with him in his baggage on the ship that took him to exile in St Helena.

“At El Gaucho, our clientele recognize and appreciate the finest in food, drink and service, including expertly mixed cocktails like the Josephine, which they cannot get anywhere else,” says General Manager, Todd Moore.

Opened in 2000, El Gaucho Portland is renowned for its tableside service and 28-Day Dry-Aged Certified Angus Beef Prime.  It has been featured in Gourmet Magazine.
