Trends: Back to the Vine!

Cutting-edge bartenders are going back to the vine for the latest inspiration: premium wine cocktails. San Francisco master mixologist, H. Joseph Ehrmann of the historic Elixir saloon has created this cocktail featuring Night Harvest Shiraz. “This after-dinner drink highlights the rich cherry heart of the Night Harvest Shiraz by accentuating it with cherry liqueur. To balance the fruit and bring a post-meal relaxing quality I added the complementary flavor of coffee liqueur. A touch of pastis helps bring out the anise finish on the wine while the garnish floats with style,” says Ehrmann.

The Vintner’s Nightcap
Autumn Cocktail

3 ounces Night Harvest Shiraz
1 ounce coffee liqueur
¼ ounce cherry liqueur
2 drops pastis
Star Anise

Place pastis in a snifter glass, and swirl around the sides. Add the Night Harvest Shiraz, coffee liqueur and cherry liqueur. Swirl to mix and drop a Star Anise in the drink to garnish.
