The Scarlet Jo

The Voice Restaurant at Hotel Icon in downtown Houston has created a new classic. The well-known Scarlet O'Hara recipe, which included Southern Comfort and cranberry juice, has been given a modern twist in the Scarlet Jo, named after film actress Scarlet Johansson.

According to Todd Leveritt, Voice’s Wine Director, “We originally designed an ‘Iconic’ drink list, but before opening the doors to Voice, we dropped the verbiage and renamed all but one of the drinks—the Scarlet Jo. It has, by far, been the calling card of our bar and lounge.”

The Scarlet Jo

2 oz Southern Comfort
1 oz fresh lime juice
1 oz fresh lemon juice

Muddled blueberries, blackberries and raspberries, two of each per order should be sufficient. Muddle berries with a splash of lime juice in a shaker cup. Add ice, Southern Comfort, lemon and lime juice. Shake and strain into a stemless wine glass or Collins glass filled with ice. Garnish with fresh berries and/or lime round. Stir and serve.

Voice Restaurant was named the best new restaurant of 2008 by Texas Monthly/i>.
