Las Vegas
: The Museum of the American Cocktail will open a new exhibit at Commander’s Palace, Las Vegas March 5 through 8, coinciding with the Las Vegas Nightclub and Bar Show. Visitors can see over two hundred years of cocktail history. Artifacts include vintage cocktail shakers, Prohibition-era literature and music, drink archives, tools, and other cocktail memorabilia. There will also be a free cocktail presentation with Dale DeGroff and Francesco LaFranconi on March 8, including free cocktails, discounted books and membership, and hors d oeuvres from Chef Carlos Guia.

On May 13, the Aladdin Hotel will host Cocktail 200, a celebration of the cocktail's 200th birthday. The First Annual American Cocktail Awards will be announced at this time. Deadline for entries is April 1.

New York: The Museum of the American Cocktail will open its permanent New York exhibit this spring, the exact date to be announced next month, at Balance 215 West 28th Street. The museum and lounge will be dedicated to presenting classic cocktails and innovations by well-known mixologists. The exhibit will be open days by appointment only. At night, Balance will offer historically significant drinks as well as modern cocktails created by noted mixologists. Balance will also be the site of a Cocktail 200 celebration.

New Orleans: Tales of the Cocktail returns to New Orleans July 19-23, 2006. The fourth annual event will feature seminars, book signings, cooking and cocktail mixing demos, dinner pairings and cocktail parties presented by the country’s hottest chefs, authors, bartenders and cocktail experts.
